Emirates has announced the purchase of 8 additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft at the Dubai Airshow 2025, with a list price value of $3.4 billion. This expansion will bring Emirates’ total A350-900 fleet to 73 aircraft once all deliveries are completed, with the new planes expected to arrive by 2031. Currently, Emirates has received 13 of these aircraft, which entered service last November.
This order, along with a previous announcement for additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, highlights Emirates’ significant investment in modern wide-body aircraft, with a combined order value of approximately $41.4 billion at list prices. Emirates’ ongoing fleet modernization aims to enhance capacity and passenger experience, including the introduction of new inflight products like Premium Economy seats.
The Airbus A350-900, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines, continues to set benchmarks for long-haul travel fuel efficiency and durability. Airbus and Rolls-Royce executives expressed confidence in the aircraft’s performance and the partnership’s long-term outlook. The orders support thousands of skilled jobs across European manufacturing supply chains, emphasizing the strategic importance of this fleet expansion.
Flydubai, which now has a fleet of over 90 Boeing 737 aircraft, recently placed an order for a jet, which is another support for the US manufacturer after a difficult period defined by fatal tragedies and delivery delays.
