At least 57 Palestinians were killed by Israeli strikes and gunfire in Gaza on Saturday, according to health officials. The battle continues despite growing international demand for a ceasefire. According to personnel at Al Awda Hospital, where the remains were transported, among the dead were those affected by two strikes in the Nuseirat refugee camp: nine members of the same family in a house and, later, 13 in the same camp, including women and children.

Nasser Hospital, which received the victims, said five more people were killed when a strike struck a tent for the displaced. The Israeli army did not immediately comment on the airstrikes and stated that they were not aware of any shooting deaths in southern Gaza on Saturday.

Medical staff in Gaza City were worried about Israeli “tanks approaching the vicinity of the hospital,” the director of Shifa Hospital told The Associated Press, limiting access to the facility where 159 patients are receiving treatment. Dr. Mohamed Abu Selmiya declared, “The bombardment has not stopped for a single moment.” He also mentioned that 14 premature infants received care at Helou Hospital in incubators.
