Social media footage that went viral show the moment demonstrators yelled “Free DC!” as they started taunting US President Donald Trump at a restaurant in Washington on Tuesday. Liberate Palestine! Trump is the modern-day Hitler. The 79-year-old Republican walked up to the yelling demonstrators in the eatery, stopping a few feet away from them and nodded and grinning amiably without responding.
The DC Metropolitan Police or the Secret Service did not immediately answer AFP’s inquiries for comment. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that Trump “and his team enjoyed crab, shrimp, salad, steak, and dessert” at a restaurant a few steps from the White House, although he rarely eats supper in public. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Leavitt, and others joined Trump.
In one video, Vance can be seen asking guests to enjoy their food while shaking their hands. Prior to the dinner, Trump told reporters that “the restaurants now are booming” in Washington, DC, citing his use of National Guard troops to crack down on the city.
