According to travel firms, Dubai officials have stepped up their attempts to crack down on people operating in the emirate on visitation permits. They claim that this has resulted in a discernible decline in the number of individuals overstaying in the nation.

We have heard that several of the company’s locations have lately been inspected,” asserted Safeer Mohammed, general manager of Smart Travels. Over the previous six months, inspection teams have also visited our office tower. Although it has always been against the law to work on a visitation visa, authorities are now making sure that everyone is carefully adhering to the regulations. This comes after one of the nation’s most generous amnesty programs ended, allowing people who had overstayed their visitation visas to either legalise their status or go without incurring fines.

From September to December 2024, the initiative assisted thousands of people in resolving their visa-related problems. According to a top official, more than 6,000 violators were detained during inspection activities in January after the visa amnesty ended.

Safeer emphasised that the number of visit visa overstayers has been cut in half as a result of these actions. “The percentage of individuals overstaying their visitation visas has decreased to less than 10% since January,” he stated.
