The UAE Tourism Strategy 2031, which aims to draw Dhs100 billion in tourism investments and increase the sector’s contribution to the GDP to Dhs450 billion by 2031, is in line with the impressive performance of the UAE’s tourism industry in terms of international visitor arrivals and hotel bookings.
According to data from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the tourism industry contributed 11.7 percent of the UAE’s GDP in 2023, or Dhs220 billion. By 2024, that percentage is predicted to rise to 12 percent, or Dhs236 billion.
According to WTTC projections, the UAE’s travel and tourism industry will contribute approximately Dhs275.2 to GDP by 2034. This growth is expected to be fuelled by the nation’s top-notch infrastructure, including hotels and airports and exciting tourist destinations.
According to data, Dubai saw 10.62 million tourists in the first seven months of 2024, an 8 percent increase YoY. Meanwhile, during the first half of 2024, over 2.87 million people stayed in Abu Dhabi’s hotels, bringing in Dhs3.6 billion—a 19.5 percent YoY increase.
These achievements demonstrate the efficacy of the UAE’s policies promoting sustainable tourism, as well as the country’s robust infrastructure, wide range of tourism attractions, and dedication to continuous development in line with the National Tourism Strategy 2031.
