The donation event, conducted today at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal 1, Abu Dhabi Ports, was part of the two-week ‘UAE stands with Lebanon’ campaign, which began on October 8, and collected 250 tonnes of relief items from various segments of the Abu Dhabi society.

The aid supplies acquired at the event will benefit people in Lebanon suffering from the ongoing conflict’s effects. The in-kind donations were mobilised according to the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and under the supervision of Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority’s Board of Directors, emphasised the depth of historical relations between the UAE and Lebanon, which he said is evident today in the widespread public participation in activities to collect humanitarian relief aid for its people in crisis.

Al Mazrouei has also referred to the spirit of human solidarity that defines the varied sectors of UAE society, comprising a wide diversity of countries, cultures, and ethnicities, who rose to the occasion to help the people of Lebanon in their tough situation.
