UAE Food Bank Aims

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives has come up with another extraordinary project, as UAE Food Bank made a huge collaboration with Meta’s Facebook platform. They aim to distribute over 720 food baskets to the blue-collar workers in the neighborhood of Al Quoz, Dubai. Such several baskets are equivalent to 55,000 meals. 

The project, aligned with UAE Food Bank is intended for encouraging social responsibility among its partners. This way, society will thrive in achieving the goal of a surplus of food, and resources for those in need and minimizing waste as much as possible, both within as well as outside the boundaries of the UAE. 

This would also help increase awareness among the people regarding the humanitarian and charitable efforts made by the Food Bank. 

The initiative of preparing the food baskets has generously been taken by Carrefour, a brand represented by Majid Al Futtaim. 

While speaking to the media, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Food Bank, Dawoud Al Hajri spoke on this initiative, stating, “This initiative held by UAE Food Bank reflects the generosity of the UAE people, which symbolizes the principles of benevolence, kindness, solidarity, and compassion in society. This initiative emphasizes the importance and necessity of feeding those in need during the holy month of Ramadan.”

He further added, “UAE Food Bank aspires to collaborate with partners from diverse commodities and associations that would improve their charitable, volunteer, and humanitarian efforts. And above everything, it would provide food to an enormous number of beneficiaries, globally as well as locally.” 

Speaking on the subject, Sheila Chaiban, Chief Marketing Officer at Majid Al Futtaim Retail as well expressed her pride in the recent collaboration with UAE Food Bank and Meta. She said, “Aligning with the core values of Carrefour together with the strong commitment that would serve the community and also, persuade solidarity among its members” She also expressed her happiness in taking this initiative during the holy month of Ramadan which brings happiness to the deserving. 

Joining the queue is Moon Baz, the Creator Partnerships Lead for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey at Meta shared the significance of such interaction, charitable work, and community Harmony in this holy month. 

He shared, “Through this Meta’s “Ramadan Al Khair” campaign, we aim to increase the count of opportunities for doing good deeds and to celebrate the true essence of the month. Our partnership with UAE Food Bank strengthens our commitment to reaching out to those in need and offering them support via materials and in-kind donations so that the community altogether can experience the true significance of this holy month.” 

To commence this initiative, more than 300 food baskets have already been delivered to the headquarters of the UAE Food Bank for distribution among blue-collar workers. And the remaining 420 food baskets are expected to be directly delivered to their accommodations. 

The Food Bank has come up with several initiatives to provide food to those in need during the month of Ramadan. This promotes efficient management of surplus food and minimizes wastage. This would also help in raising awareness towards achieving zero food waste and the importance of minimizing surplus.

Several food companies, restaurants, and hotels have also joined together with the UAE Food Bank to distribute the meals effectively daily through Iftar tents. 

Along with this, the Food Bank has also presented another initiative “Your Harees on Us” to gather traditional hares donations from large kitchens and distribute them among the poor, during the holy month of Ramadan.
