The UAE’s financial scene is rapidly changing thanks to the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), which is drawing in international investors and advancing Abu Dhabi’s aspirations to become a major global financial centre.
Yasir Gadit, Regional Partner at athGADLANG, and ADX Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer Matthias Buchler participated in a thorough Fireside Chat titled “Opportunities in Abu Dhabi’s Evolving Capital Markets” during the CFO conference Middle East 2024, which was hosted in Dubai. The conversation provided an inside glimpse into Abu Dhabi’s financial vision while shedding insight on the growing influence of the ADX, the expansion of IPOs, and new sustainability norms.
The goal for Abu Dhabi is very clear: to become the “capital of capital.” With more than a million investors, 40 percent of whom are from outside, we are currently the 20th largest exchange in the world by market capitalisation, Buchler revealed. ADX is a portal to global wealth, not merely a localised exchange. With more than 17 years of experience in strategy and transformation, Buchler highlighted ADX’s role in creating an ecosystem where companies and investors can interact and share Abu Dhabi’s growth story. He clarified that for many, listing on the ADX is about visibility, transparency, and long-term credibility rather than just raising money.
