Visionary leaders from all over the world, dedicated to influencing the future of their cities and communities, gathered in Braga, Portugal, for the annual summit of the Global Parliament of Mayors (GPM 2025).

This event was a priceless chance to discuss the prospects and urgent global issues that cities are now facing. By combining different viewpoints and creative contributions, they can empower one another to create more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable cities for coming generations.

Cities of various sizes might experience revolutionary transformation due to the discussion and cooperation promoted by the event. The summit’s main emphasis was on the four pillars of GPM—Delivering Democracy, Empowering Cities, Caring Cities, and The Power of Culture & Art.

Speaking to the audience, Haji Zubair Ali, the mayor of Peshawar, Pakistan, expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to the Global Parliament of Mayors Summit organisers for establishing this influential forum where city leaders from all over the world come together to do more than just talk.

He went on to say that he came to this meeting sincerely to return to his hometown with the most significant concepts, the most solid alliances, and the finest solutions for Peshawar’s progress and well-being. As mayors, we are frequently the last defenders of democracy and dignity and the first to respond and listen. However, all too frequently, we are left without the resources, voice.
