One of the most esteemed research institutions in Europe, the Bibliothèque nationale de France (National Library of France) in Paris, was recently visited by Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA). The tour’s purpose, which included meetings with senior officials from the esteemed French organisation, was to investigate potential avenues for cooperation in various professional and cultural domains. The visit also demonstrates the emirate’s dedication to deepening its academic and literary ties with top universities worldwide.
Both sides committed to creating cooperative programs in children’s books, cultural artefacts, and manuscripts during the visit to create fresh and long-lasting opportunities for cultural cooperation.
Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi gave copies of the Historical Corpus of the Arabic Language to the French National Library’s historic and modern branches in Paris as a token of Sharjah’s respect for international cultural organisations. This legislation praised the cooperative efforts to promote the Arabic language internationally and acknowledged the institution’s significant contribution to preserving the written legacy.
Gilles Pécout, President of the National Library of France, Madame Marie de Laubier, Director of Collections, and Jean-François Roseau, Director of International Relations, welcomed Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of SBA, and a delegation from the Authority.
