President Donald Trump’s previous connections to Jeffrey Epstein have sparked a new issue as demand mounts on his administration to make long-promised data pertaining to the disgraced financier’s sex trafficking case public.
When The Wall Street Journal reported on a sexually provocative letter purportedly written by Trump and featured on Epstein’s 2003 record for his fiftieth birthday, the commotion started. A hand-drawn silhouette of a nude lady was allegedly included in the letter, which was depicted but not completely released. The note said, “Happy Birthday and may every day be another wonderful secret.” Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate, put together the letter, the Journal reported.
Trump quickly refuted the accusation, calling it “false, malicious, and defamatory,” and claimed to have discussed the need for a retraction with editor-in-chief Emma Tucker and the paper’s owner, Rupert Murdoch. “These are not my words, not the way I talk,” he said, insisting the message was a fake. I don’t draw pictures either. Additionally, he threatened to sue the paper for publishing the report.
In support of Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance questioned the Journal’s choice to publish the article without releasing the complete document. “Would you be shocked to learn they never showed it to us before publishing it?” On X (formerly Twitter), Vance inquired.
