The attorneys for French feminist hero Gisele Pelicot said Thursday that she will suing Paris Match magazine for breach of privacy after surviving nearly ten years of being raped by several men. Paris Match featured seven images of Pelicot strolling through the streets of her new hometown with a man identified as her partner in its most recent issue.

When Pelicot waived her right to privacy during her ex-husband’s and other defendants’ trial last year, she received widespread praise. “They should feel ashamed, not us,” she stated of the offenders.

For over ten years, her now-ex-husband Dominique Pelicot sedated her in order to rape her with dozens of strangers he found online. In December, a French court gave him a 20-year jail term. We will respond and seek a court decision every time the privacy of our client’s personal life is violated,” attorney Antoine Camus told AFP on Thursday.

Camus saw it as “disappointing” and “shocking” that Paris Match would covertly photograph Pelicot, “whose ordeal was the subject of 3,000 pictures and videos. ” The publication “learnt nothing from the four-month trial,” he said.
