Experience Abu Dhabi will begin a poetry activation at the UAE’s main museum, Zayed main Museum, on Thursday, May 28. The activity, which is presented in both Arabic and English, encourages guests to engage in private, one-on-one conversations with poets, turning introspective thoughts into unique poetry that is influenced by the city and its residents. Through these discussions, the poets and participants engage in a deep and intimate dialogue as creative poems are written in response to the observations exchanged. Everyone is welcome; all viewpoints and stories are valued, whether they are UAE citizens, locals, or visitors. The event is a part of the museum’s “The Joy of Eid” program, which takes place from May 27 to May 31.

“Zayed National Museum honors the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, a man who led a nation while expressing his deepest love for his people and land through prose,” stated Nassra Al Buainain, Director of Learning & Public Engagement. Sheikh Zayed saw that poetry complemented leadership, culture, and identity rather than existing independently of them. It feels appropriate and very touching to witness people gather in this setting to express their tales, recollections, and thoughts via poetry. The activation serves as a reminder that Sheikh Zayed’s poetic essence was never his own. It is present in this city, its inhabitants, and every tale spoken inside these walls.
