The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated on Wednesday that S Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, will go to Mauritius and the United Arab Emirates from April 9–12. On April 11, Jaishankar will make an official visit to the United Arab Emirates. He will meet with the UAE leadership during the course of the two-day visit in order to discuss tight collaboration and strengthen the two nations’ Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Only a few hours after the US and Iran reached a two-week ceasefire, Jaishankar’s journey to the UAE was announced. India has expressed confidence that the truce will result in long-lasting peace in West Asia and has hailed the agreement reached between the US and Iran. The MEA reaffirmed in a statement that communication and diplomacy are crucial to ending the situation. It stated that the violence in West Asia has interrupted the world’s energy supply and created pain for people.
EAM Jaishankar will meet with the Mauritius leadership and attend the 9th Indian Ocean Conference while in Mauritius to discuss the full range of bilateral relations.Additionally, he will give the keynote speech at the 9th Indian Ocean Conference. EAM is anticipated to have conversations with counterparts from other participating countries on the sidelines. According to a MEA release, the tour highlights India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy, Vision MAHASAGAR, and dedication to the Global South.
The ninth Indian Ocean Conference is being jointly organized by the government of Mauritius, the MEA, and the India Foundation, which is based in New Delhi. It will take place from April 10 to 12. Since 2016, the annual flagship event has brought together world leaders and specialists to discuss important regional and global issues in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
