His Royal Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister and vice president of the United Arab Emirates, who rules Dubai, said Thursday that the city is committed to enhancing its facilities, services, and infrastructure in order to maintain its reputation as one of the best places in the world to live, work, and travel.

During a visit to Hatta, Sheikh Mohammed also stressed youth’s role in advancing sustainable development. “Our programs empower people, create opportunities, and promote prosperity. We want to make Hatta a global model for harmony between humans and nature through innovative sustainable development,” he added.

Sheikh Mohammed evaluated important development projects by Dubai’s Vision 2030, Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and Dubai Social Agenda 33. Sheikh Mohammed was welcomed by Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Chairman of the Supreme Committee to Oversee the Development of Hatta; Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa); and other senior officials.

Sheikh Mohammed received an update from Mattar Al Tayer regarding the progress of 65 Hatta projects worth Dhs3.6 billion, 41 of which were completed. Projects aimed at improving quality are part of the Hatta Master Development Plan.
