American University of Sharjah (AUS) is participating in the UAE’s national campaigns to raise awareness and promote screenings in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is observed in October. AUS will organise several activities during the month to coordinate its efforts with well-known initiatives like the National Cancer Control Plan and the Pink Caravan.
AUS President Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi attended the School of Business Administration’s (SBA) Pink October breast cancer awareness event, Pink Fest, on October 16.”Supporting Pink October is an essential contribution to increasing awareness about breast cancer and the life-saving significance of early detection,” stated Sheikha Bodour. We promote a culture of empathy and resiliency via research, teaching, and neighborhood-based events like Pink Fest.
It’s really heartwarming to see the commitment of our students and partners to making this event a reality and ensuring we continue to make meaningful strides in the fight against this disease.
The event featured a keynote presentation on “Rendering Chemotherapy More Humane” by Dr. Ghaleb Husseini, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Infrastructure and Professor in Chemical and Biological Engineering, who holds multiple patents in breast cancer research.
