In order to start autonomous car pilot tests in the emirate, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pony.ai, a top provider of autonomous driving technology. In order to prepare for the 2026 debut of a completely driverless commercial service, the testing are set to start later this year. Pony.ai has debuted the seventh generation of its autonomous vehicles, which were created in collaboration with major automakers including BAIC, GAC, and Toyota.

To guarantee accurate navigation and safety in a variety of road and weather situations, the company’s cars are outfitted with cutting-edge artificial intelligence algorithms that are backed by an intricate network of sensors, such as lidars, radars, and cameras.

In order to incorporate robotaxi mobility services into platforms like WeChat and Alipay, the company has also partnered with top digital companies like Tencent and Alibaba. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between RTA and Pony.ai was attended by Dr. Leo Wang, the Chief Financial Officer of Pony.ai, and Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority.
