Early on Tuesday, Russia attacked two Ukrainian cities with waves of drones and missiles, killing two people and injuring at least thirteen more, according to Ukrainian officials. Russia launched one of its most extensive airstrikes against Kyiv overnight, employing 315 drones and seven missiles in raids that also affected other regions of the nation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Tuesday.

The U.S. and other international efforts to pressure Russia into peace are drowned out by Russian missile and Shahed attacks,” Zelensky said on X. According to regional governor Oleh Kiper, the attack destroyed residential buildings and a maternity facility in the heart of the southern coastal city of Odesa. The regional prosecutor’s office said in a statement that two persons were murdered and nine were injured in the city.

Moscow launched around 500 drones at Ukraine in the largest nighttime drone assault in the three-year conflict, just hours before the new strikes. Following Ukraine’s bold June 1 drone strike on remote Russian air sites, Ukrainian and Western authorities have been waiting for a Russian reaction.
