The Sharjah government has temporarily closed Al Hamriyah Beach as a precautionary measure to prevent marine contamination caused by an oil spill from a maritime tanker. Specialised teams and relevant agencies in the emirate have begun to implement the required measures to preserve the shoreline and prevent oil pollution from spreading to the beach.
The response aims to protect the marine environment and public safety while efforts are made to address the spill’s potential dangers. Authorities have encouraged fishermen, beachgoers, and other members of the public to follow the directions issued by the appropriate institutions until further notice.
They emphasised that adherence to precautionary measures is critical for protecting the population and supporting ongoing attempts to contain the crisis.
The public has also been asked to get updates and information only through official sources, and to avoid spreading unconfirmed stories or rumours. The interim closure is part of the emirate’s cautious measures to reduce the environmental impact of the incident and protect its coastal areas from potential damage.
