His Majesty, To create and govern the Sharjah Fashion Lab, the Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, has formally issued an Emiri Decree. According to the ordinance, a new facility called the “Sharjah Fashion Lab” will be built in Sharjah. To accomplish its goals and carry out its duties, this centre will have the legal identity and power to take the needed legal actions. It will align with the Sharjah Creative Quarter and have administrative and financial autonomy.
The laboratory shall be called “Sharjah Fashion Lab,” with the acronym “SFL,” by the ordinance. The Sharjah Creative Quarter at University City in Sharjah will house its main office. Depending on the ruler’s discretion, branches may also be established in other cities and areas across the emirate.
To provide a platform that gives local designers in the emirate, the United Arab Emirates, and the Gulf area more influence and makes it easier for them to access international markets.
To give local designers access to specialised services, state-of-the-art equipment, and cutting-edge technology to satisfy global production standards. To support production methods that meet international industry standards, provide advisory services, and aid in model development to promote the expansion of the UAE fashion sector.
