In the concluding remarks of the 16th summit, which took place in the Russian city of Kazan, the leaders of the Brics countries emphasised the significance of strengthening cooperation based on shared interests and carrying on with partnership expansion.
The statement praised the decision made regarding the necessary measures to support the necessary reforms within the framework of the Brics Economic Partnership Strategy until 2025 to increase the World Trade Organization’s stability, role, and effectiveness and promote development and inclusivity.
In light of the strong commitment to the two-state solution based on international law, including the resolutions of the UN Security Council and UN General Assembly, as well as the Arab Peace Initiative, which calls for the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and viable State of Palestine by the internationally recognised borders of June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully and securely with Israel, the statement expressed support for the State of Palestine’s admission as a full member of the UN.
The leaders expressed their grave concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation and crisis in the occupied Palestinian territory, particularly the unprecedented escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
