The Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, directed the Sharjah Department of Town Planning & Survey (SDTPS) to immediately transfer land that had previously been given by the government to its successors. This occurred during a call to Mohammed Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s Direct Line program. The caller claimed that her brother had passed away, that she was not married and had no children, but that she was a partner with her other brother at a petrol station.

The land was intended to be given to his heirs after his death, but SDTPS refused to do so until a court document was presented, she added. She continued, “SDTPS did not transfer the land, which included a petrol station, shops, etc., to the heirs even though the paper was brought.” Sheikh Sultan also gave Sharjah City Municipality instructions to investigate and address a complaint made by another program caller about a contractor’s six-month delay in finishing a project that was supposed to take only forty-five days. The contractor was given a 20-day deadline to complete the project after the caller reported the problem to the municipality, he said, adding that even though a week had already gone by, he had not yet started work.
