Veteran Indian actor Nana Patekar passed away at 75 in Goa. He was well-known for his fiery, dramatic performances on stage and in films. Patekar, one of the most famous figures in Indian film, earned three National Film Awards and gained recognition for portraying challenging and frequently violent roles. He was also well-known in Marathi-language theatre and film.
After being discovered unconscious at his Goan residence early on Thursday morning, he was brought to a hospital.He was not able to be revived after 45 minutes of nonstop CPR, Dr Shekhar Salkar of Manipal Hospital in Goa informed the ANI news agency. Actors and politicians from all over India have been paying tribute.
The hospital staff discovered Patekar “unconscious and almost unresponsive” at his house, Dr. Salkar subsequently told the PTI news agency. He stated that the team kept performing CPR on him while transporting him to the hospital, which was roughly ten minutes away, but by the time they arrived, he had passed away. It was unclear what caused Patekar’s heart arrest, according to Dr. Salkar.
Before the actor’s funeral, which was scheduled for later in the day with full state honours at his farm house in the western city of Pune in Maharashtra state, family, friends, and admirers paid their final tribute to him at Goa Medical College.
