H.H. Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), and Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, co-chaired the 14th Meeting of the India-UAE High Level Joint Task Force on Investments (HLJTFI), which was held in Mumbai today. In order to advance trade, investment, and economic relations between India and the UAE, the HLJTFI was founded in 2013. Since its establishment, it has served as a forum to address concerns raised by investors in both India and the United Arab Emirates, as well as an efficient means of discussing potential and prospects for additional investments in both nations.

Frequent high-level interactions, such as the May 2026 visit of Hon. Prime Minister Modi to the United Arab Emirates and the September 2026 visit of H.H. Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nayhan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to India, have given the bilateral partnership strategic direction and increased momentum. Key trade and investment issues were discussed at today’s meeting, including plans to increase bilateral investment flows and investigate new areas of cooperation. As bilateral commerce reached $101.25 billion in FY 2025–2026, the UAE–India economic partnership continues to expand in scope and strategic significance. Non-oil trade reached $76.2 billion in 2025, demonstrating the impact of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the strength of economic ties.

The UAE and India are expanding their investment collaboration in areas that will propel future growth, such as energy, infrastructure, technology, and artificial intelligence, as they strive toward their shared goal of $200 billion in bilateral commerce by 2032. In light of this encouraging context, the co-chairs began the meeting by recognising the growth in trade between the United Arab Emirates and India as well as the contribution of the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), the CEPA, and other agreements on mutual legal assistance and taxation to the strengthening of the bilateral relationship.
