Following the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the younger brother of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, ten days of formal mourning have been established. Sheikh Ahmed, the Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security, passed away on Monday, September 21, according to Gulf News.
The Ruler’s Court said flags will be flown at half-mast throughout the emirate as the mourning period begins immediately. In a post on X, Sheikh Mohammed, the Prime Minister and Vise President of the United Arab Emirates, honoured his younger brother and prayed for his pardon and a spot in Paradise.
May Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum receive Allah’s mercy. Sheikh Mohammed wrote, “May Allah have mercy on you, my brother. He continued by saying that although though Ahmed was no longer among them, he will always be in their thoughts and prayers. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, also expressed sorrow for his uncle and offered prayers for his mercy and forgiveness.
