The “Date Harvest Season” celebrations held by Abu Dhabi City Municipality in Al Rahbah Plaza and Al Khatim Park drew over 16,000 guests and included a schedule of Emirati heritage, educational, and community events. The program sought to support Emirati farms and locally made goods, promote Emirati history, and draw attention to the date palm’s importance in the UAE’s cultural identity. More than 10,000 people attended the Date Harvest Season event at Al Rahbah Plaza, where they learned about the date palm’s longstanding significance in Emirati culture as a symbol of giving, sustainability, and ties to the land.
ADNOC Distribution, KEZAD Group, the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, Burjeel Holdings, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), TAQA Distribution, the National Academy for Childhood Development, and the Family Development Foundation were among the strategic partners with whom the event was organized. A comprehensive program of interactive experiences that blended entertainment and education was available to visitors, with a variety of activities catering to all age groups. The show presented viewers to elements of Emirati culture related to the date palm, traditional crafts, and the date harvest season.
The Municipality held a similar event at Al Khatim Park, which drew over 6,000 people and was mainly aimed at farm owners and locals. The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, Etihad Rail, Al Saadah Nursery, Lamar Planting Company, Al Foah Dates, Al Wathba Marionnet, MEK, and Al Khazna Leather collaborated to organize the event at Al Khatim Park. Emirati farms, traditional crafts, and the date palm’s cultural legacy were all highlighted in the event. The ‘Tabshourat Al Rutab’ tournaments were also included.
