Leh Apex Body co-convenor Cherring Dorjay Lakruk declared late on Thursday, July 23, 2026, that activist Sonam Wangchuk had broken his fast. He noted that the administration had promised in writing that proceedings against students would be dropped if they weren’t violent. Additionally, he said, the government promised in writing to take into account compensation for NEET applicants who committed suicide.
