The two warring groups’ continued military escalation in various parts of Sudan, particularly the city of El Obeid, and the ensuing civilian losses and deteriorating humanitarian situation have deeply alarmed the United Arab Emirates.

The UAE reaffirmed its unwavering opposition to the targeting of people and civilian infrastructure, emphasizing the necessity for both sides to permit the departure of all civilians and to establish safe humanitarian corridors to enable their passage.

In light of the worsening humanitarian crisis, the UAE emphasized that securing an urgent humanitarian truce and a permanent ceasefire that guarantees civilian safety and permits the safe and unfettered delivery of humanitarian assistance to all impacted areas is the top priority.

The UAE reaffirmed its support for the Quad’s efforts to bring about lasting peace in Sudan, including obtaining an urgent humanitarian truce and an immediate, unconditional ceasefire that would open the door for a thorough, civilian-led political process.

The UAE applauded calls for an end to the war and the start of a thorough, civilian-led political process, as well as continued regional and international initiatives, including the results of the Berlin Conference. The UAE reiterated its unwavering support for these initiatives meant to safeguard people and lessen humanitarian suffering.
