The head of the Sharjah Creative Quarter (SCQ), Sheikha Hoor Bint Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, has issued an administrative decision creating the “Sharjah Design Council.” This will be followed by the start of “Sharjah Design Days,” a specialized platform that will bring together designers, creatives, and experts from all over the world to work on expanding the design ecosystem and bolstering its presence both locally and internationally. The choice aligns with SCQ’s mission to help creative sectors by drawing in talent, brands, and cutting-edge design methods.

In accordance with the ruling, the Sharjah Design Council seeks to expand the emirate’s design ecosystem through specialized projects and programs that support the development of a sustainable creative environment, strengthen the emirate’s standing as a major regional center for design, and create and fortify regional and global partnerships in design-related fields. In order to promote innovation and creative output in this industry, the council will also endeavor to offer educational and training platforms that assist both professional and developing designers.

In order to further solidify Sharjah’s standing as a major regional center for cultural industries, the council will create and develop strategies and policies pertaining to the design sector, supervise the execution of programs and initiatives, plan specialized exhibitions, showcases, and events, and initiate economically and environmentally sustainable projects in the field of prototype design and manufacturing.
