The Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) and Sharjah’s business groups discussed strategies to build long-term collaborations and strengthen economic linkages at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
Promoting bilateral trade and investment flows and expanding them into new directions that serve the common economic interests of both markets were the main topics of discussion. The meeting, which took place at the Sharjah Chamber’s headquarters, was attended by Saleumxay Kommasith, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and his entourage. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, the Chairman of SCCI, was also present.
Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and corporate Sector at SCCI, Oudet Souvannavong, President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), and members from the private and corporate sectors in Sharjah and Laos were also in attendance.
In order to boost cooperation across areas of shared interest, both parties emphasised throughout the discussion how crucial it is to look into investment opportunities and open lines of communication between the business communities of Sharjah and Laos. While Laos has enormous economic potential in manufacturing, agriculture, energy, mining, and tourism, Sharjah offers bright prospects in industry, logistics, trade, tourism, and the new economy.
