The Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) system has emerged as a key component in facilitating safer and more efficient mobility throughout Dubai, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
In addition to improving road safety by offering early warnings about collisions, traffic jams, and unfavorable weather, real-time messages on the signs have helped cut travel times by up to 20% on important corridors.
Currently, the RTA runs 112 electronic signs that are integrated into the sophisticated iTraffic system at Dubai’s Intelligent Traffic Systems Center and strategically positioned throughout the emirate’s primary road network. The creation of the DMS system demonstrates RTA’s dedication to utilizing cutting-edge international technologies and guaranteeing safer, more comfortable travel for locals and tourists.
In line with Dubai’s goal of being a leading smart city that puts people’s safety first, guidance messages assist drivers in avoiding traffic jams and collisions while providing comfort and peace of mind while driving.
The system drastically improves road safety by generating sequential messages based on the location of an incident,” stated Salah Al Marzouqi, Director of Intelligent Traffic Systems at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency.
