In an effort to track down the two suspected Bondi Beach shooters, police revealed on Saturday that one of them went to a gun store while they were in the Philippines. Before the horrific shooting that murdered 15 people in Sydney six days ago, Sajid Akram and his son Naveed visited the southern island of Mindanao for over a month. An Australian counterterrorism team is looking into whether they had meetings with Islamist militants.

The two guys spent the majority of their 28-day stay cooped up in their tiny room, venturing only briefly each morning, the GV Hotel workers in Davao City told AFP this week. Catherine Dela Rey, a spokesman for the Davao regional police, stated on Saturday, “What we’ve seen is one of them visiting a gun shop.” She later revealed that Sajid Akram, 50, had been spotted.

The reviewing of CCTVs continues so we can see the other sites they visited and the people they might have talked with,” she continued. National Security Advisor Eduardo Ano told reporters on Friday that there was “no way” the guys could have left the city to conduct training, despite the fact that not much has been made public at this point in the probe.
