We recently had the privilege of interviewing Syed Noor, Managing Director of Emirates Fragrance. With experience in diverse roles, Syed gained valuable insights into consumer behavior and the dynamics of the fragrance industry across the UAE. With his expertise and in-depth knowledge of the field, Syed Noor has been instrumental in expanding Emirates Fragrance as one of the most trusted online destinations for genuine fragrances across the GCC.

The Beginning

We started the interview by asking, “How did your professional journey begin, and what key moments shaped where you are currently?”

Syed shared, “My professional journey began when I landed in Dubai in 2010 and started my career as a sales promoter. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with several trading companies and leading e-commerce players across the UAE, which has given me valuable insights into consumer behavior, market dynamics, and the fragrance industry in particular.

 After more than 2 years of research and development, I launched EmiratesFragrance.com in November 2024 with a vision to offer 100% authentic branded perfumes at competitive prices. Today, I’m proud to say that Emirates Fragrance has grown into one of the most trusted online destinations for genuine fragrances across the UAE and other parts of the GCC.”

Challenges are a part of every journey. To learn how Syed Noor handled the tough phases, we asked, “What major challenges have you faced as a leader, and how have you overcome them?”

Syed responded, “As the Managing Director of EmiratesFragrance.com, one of the key challenges I’ve faced has been managing logistics and ensuring timely deliveries across different parts of the UAE and GCC. Coordinating with multiple courier partners while maintaining speed and reliability required constant optimization and system improvements.

 Another challenge was developing high-quality yet cost-effective packaging. We wanted boxes that reflect our brand’s premium identity while also protecting products during transit. After several trials and supplier evaluations, we successfully created durable, elegant packaging that enhanced both safety and presentation.”

He even mentioned, “Customer service was another critical area. In the fragrance industry, trust and satisfaction are everything. We focused on building a responsive support team, improving our communication systems, and implementing transparent policies for returns and refunds.

 Through these challenges, we learned that consistency, attention to detail, and customer feedback are the true drivers of growth. Each hurdle ultimately helped us strengthen our brand and deliver a better experience to our customers.”

To understand Syed  Noor’s perspective on the rising influence of technology — especially AI — in his sector, we asked him to share his opinion on the same.

 In the long run, I believe AI will redefine how people explore and purchase fragrances online. We also asked, “What’s your perspective on where your industry is heading in the next few years?”

He added, “The fragrance industry is evolving rapidly, especially in the Middle East. Over the next few years, I see a major shift toward digitalization, authenticity, and personalization. Consumers today are more informed and value transparency—they want genuine products, clear sourcing, and trusted online platforms.

 E-commerce will continue to dominate perfume retail, with faster delivery, flexible payment options, and AI-driven recommendations becoming standard expectations. At the same time, niche and Arabic fragrances are gaining global recognition, reflecting the region’s growing influence on the international perfume scene.

 I believe the future belongs to brands that combine authenticity with innovation—those that use technology to connect emotionally with customers while maintaining the artistry and heritage that make fragrances so special. Message to Young Professionals

Addressing the beginners in the field of fragrance, we asked Syed Noor, “What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs or professionals aiming to create impact?”

Syed commented, “My advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple — start with passion, stay consistent, and never stop learning. Success doesn’t happen overnight; it’s built through patience, persistence, and a clear vision.

Don’t be afraid to start small. Focus on solving real problems and creating genuine value for your customers. Challenges will come — whether in logistics, finances, or customer trust — but every obstacle is a lesson that shapes your growth.

 Also, surround yourself with the right people and stay adaptable to change. The business world evolves fast, especially with technology and AI, so being flexible and open-minded is key.

 Most importantly, believe in your idea and stay authentic. When your purpose is clear and your work is honest, impact naturally follows.”
