The Environment and Protected Areas Authority hosted the 2025 Silver Jubilee edition of the Sir Bu Nair Festival on Sir Bu Nair Island in Sharjah, and Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the deputy ruler of Sharjah, was present for the closing ceremony.
The Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, in collaboration with the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, organized the 60-foot Sir Bu Nair Dhow Sailing Race over Sharjah Sports Channel on the last day of the festival. The Deputy Ruler unveiled a new activity area close to the beach and dedicated the Environment and Protected Areas Authority’s (EPAA) new vessel at the island’s creek at the closing ceremony.
During his visit of the activity area, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed observed maritime performances that used traditional music and artistic exhibits to stress the importance of marine heritage. He went to a number of specialized exhibits that highlighted Sharjah’s initiatives for sustainable development and environmental preservation. The Green List exhibit emphasized Sharjah’s pioneering role in protected area management and Sir Bu Nair’s status as a global nature reserve, highlighting its significance to the global environment.
