Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Communication Technologies Authority (SCTA), attended on Monday the signing of two strategic agreements in Sharjah.
The first agreement was signed between SCTA and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du). Rashid Ali Al Ali, Executive Director of SCTA, and Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du, formalized the partnership. The agreement aims to boost cooperation in developing Sharjah’s telecommunications infrastructure, accelerate network expansion, and enhance service quality to support sustainable development.
As part of the agreement, both parties will work on building an integrated digital infrastructure to serve the Emirate’s regions. Plans include exploring the establishment of a fully integrated data centre in Kalba City and a secure marine landing station for submarine cables, further positioning Sharjah as a regional hub for digital connectivity. The agreement also grants du access to strategic sites across the Emirate to expand coverage and deliver advanced telecom services in line with regulatory standards.
On the same day, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed, in his role as Chairman of the “Tamayuz” Institutional Excellence Award, also witnessed the signing of a sponsorship agreement between the Award and du. The agreement was signed by Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Director of the Award, and Fahad Al Hassawi.
