The UAE has been polio-free for more than thirty years, a milestone made possible by the establishment of an efficient surveillance system and the ongoing high vaccination coverage by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and its partners, stressed Dr. Hussain Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector. The purpose of the gathering was to share knowledge and raise awareness of the best practices in epidemiological monitoring.

The occasion celebrated President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s crucial role in promoting global health programs and fighting infectious illnesses, especially by endorsing the “Reaching the Last Mile” campaign to eradicate polio. His kind donation reinforces the UAE’s dedication to improving global health, fostering the welfare of future generations, and increasing the country’s humanitarian influence worldwide.

Al Rand pointed out that this achievement was also made possible by the unwavering support of the UAE’s leadership, whose dedication to bolstering public health and preventive systems has brought the country together in pursuit of the objectives of the “We the UAE 2031” Vision, which prioritizes the health and well-being of its citizens. Al Rand pointed out that the National Immunisation Program’s thorough immunisation of children is the main component of the UAE’s proactive and preventive approach to polio prevention.
