The first-ever UAE-Lithuania Joint Economic Committee (JEC) was held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, on Thursday. Several government officials from both countries attended. The committee was chaired by Ausrinė Armonaitė, the Minister of Economy and Innovation of Lithuania, and Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy.
The two nations decided to deepen their economic cooperation during the meeting, focussing on a number of important areas including the new economy, travel, tourism, aviation, entrepreneurship, SMEs, transportation, agriculture, circular economy, innovation, food security, and space.
Over forty representatives from twenty-one government agencies and national companies make up the UAE delegation that is currently visiting Lithuania. These agencies and companies include the Ministry of Investment, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry, the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), Masdar, the Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce & Industry, MSA Capital, UAE Angels Capital Investment, ASG Group, Riayatech.ae, and Syspos Technology.
Bin Touq highlighted the robustness and vitality of the long-standing relations between Lithuania and the United Arab Emirates, which have grown significantly over the last thirty years in a number of areas, most notably trade and economics.
