The Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, stated that two drivers were arrested for reckless behavior after they were seen in videos climbing and doing stunts on the hoods of their cars while driving in an attempt to become famous on social media and get more views.

Such behavior, according to Bin Suwaidan, is a major breach of traffic regulations and puts the driver and bystanders at considerable risk. He mentioned that Decree No. 30 of 2023, which mandates a Dhs50,000 fee to release a vehicle, was implemented by Dubai Police after they seized the cars.

Bin Suwaidan emphasized that Dubai Police will not put up with such careless conduct and will take severe action against any harmful roadside antics or behaviors. He reaffirmed that sharing content on social media does not excuse driving infractions that put lives and public safety at jeopardy. Bin Suwaidan went on to say that using social media to encourage risky behavior is totally inappropriate and that public roadways are not places for stunts.

To protect everyone’s safety, he urged the public to follow traffic laws and assist security forces by reporting any suspicious or dangerous activity via the “Police Eye” program or by dialing the non-emergency number 901.
