On Monday, President Donald Trump reiterated the United States’ commitment to defend Ukraine and stated that he has not discussed particular security assurances for the nation. One of the biggest challenges to putting an end to Russia’s conflict in Ukraine is the possible security assurances for Ukraine. Trump said that he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15 and that the two leaders talked about reducing the size of their nations’ enormous nuclear arsenals when the Ukraine situation is over.
“We want to denuclearize.” It’s excessive power, and we also discussed that. Trump told reporters assembled in the Oval Office, “That’s part of it, but we have to get the war over with.” Trump said that Putin doesn’t like Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is why he seems hesitant to meet with him. Trump added on Monday that he had spoken with Putin since he met with European leaders and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington last week.
The last time Trump was known to speak with Putin was on August 18, when he called the Russian leader while interrupting Zelensky and the Europeans at the White House. When asked if he had spoken to Putin since then, Trump responded, “Yes, I have.” Trump said, “Every conversation I have with him is a good conversation,” when asked how the most recent discussions went. Sadly, a bomb is then loaded into Kyiv or another location, and I am really irate over it.
