After directing a significant naval buildup in the Middle East to put pressure on Tehran to reach an agreement to curtail its nuclear program, US President Donald Trump stated that he was thinking about launching a limited attack on Iran.

The most recent warning followed Iran’s foreign minister’s announcement that, after talks between the two countries in Geneva earlier this week, a draft plan for a deal with Washington will be available in a few days. On Thursday, Trump threatened “bad things” if Tehran did not reach an agreement within 10 days, which he then extended to 15.

Following the Geneva negotiations, Tehran announced that the two parties had reached an agreement to submit drafts of a possible deal, which Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed US media would be the “next step.”He referred to Trump’s principal Middle East negotiator, Steve Witkoff, saying, “I think that in the next two or three days, that would be ready, and after final confirmation by my superiors, that would be handed over to Steve Witkoff.”

Araghchi added that, in contrast to what US officials had indicated, US negotiators had not asked Tehran to stop its nuclear enrichment program. In an interview broadcast on US TV network MS NOW on Friday, he stated, “We have not proposed any suspension, and the US side has not requested zero enrichment.”
