Even the controversial Donald Trump surprised everyone with his tweet on Sunday, saying, “I HATE TAYLOR Swift!” Despite the lack of commentary or explanation, the context of the all-caps post was evident.
Moments after Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump squared off in a debate on Tuesday that most observers predicted Trump would lose, the famous singer-songwriter announced on Instagram that she would be supporting Harris, the Democratic candidate, referring to her as a “steady-handed, gifted leader.”
Although celebrity endorsements are rarely very influential, Swift is regarded as being in a league of her own because she has over 100 million social media followers, 10 million of whom have “liked” her Instagram post.
Attacking Taylor Swift is a really poor political ploy, an individual poster on social media platform X stated. “Taylor doesn’t get mad, she gets even.”
Though it’s possible that he reasoned that any publicity is preferable to none, it was unclear what Trump hoped to achieve by disparaging Swift.
Even Republicans have chastised him for his recent relationship with conspiracy-theorizing right-wing influencer Laura Loomer, who has occasionally flown on his campaign plane.
