The New York Times is the target of a $15 billion “defamation and libel lawsuit” that US President Donald Trump announced Monday. It is time for the New York Times to cease brazenly lying, slandering, and defaming me. They have done so for far too long. He added that the case was being filed in Florida in a post on his Truth Social website.

Trump accused the newspaper of lying about his “family, business, the America First Movement, MAGA, and our Nation as a whole” and denounced it as a “virtual’mouthpiece’ for the Radical Left Democrat Party.” He offered no proof to support his assertions. Since he returned to the White House, Trump has stepped up his attacks on conventional media, limiting access, suing, and constantly disparaging journalists who criticize his campaign.

In July, after The Wall Street Journal published an article exposing his acquaintance with Epstein, he filed a lawsuit against media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and the publication for at least $10 billion.

In that same month, Paramount paid $16 million to resolve Trump’s lawsuit about election coverage on CBS News’ flagship program “60 Minutes”. He said that an interview with Kamala Harris, his opponent in the 2024 race, was dishonestly altered in her favor by the show.
