Celebrity chef Jose Andres and former senior general Mark Milley were among the four dismissals announced on social media by President Donald Trump, who announced his intention to remove over 1,000 officials from former President Joe Biden’s cabinet on Tuesday.
My Presidential Personnel Office is actively identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post shortly thereafter. This step will likely reignite concerns that the president aims to replace Biden appointees with individuals who are faithful to his agenda.
Trump announced he fired Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council after Biden granted him a preemptive pardon on Monday. Trump stated in the tweet that Andres, who received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Biden, was kicked out of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.
Shortly after Trump’s inauguration on Monday, the Pentagon took down the image of Milley, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who Trump has said should be put to death for having backchannel discussions with China.
