Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed Bin Butti Al Hamed, the Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO), has started an anti-online-trolling campaign, which has the backing of the UAE Journalists Association (UAEJA).
The UAEJA and NMO are working together to address online trolls, also known as “electronic flies,” as one of the most serious contemporary problems, while also advancing professional standards and upholding national values.
According to Fadila Abdullah Al Muaini, the chairperson of the UAE Journalists Association, the association is coordinating and interacting with media institutions to support the national campaign against online trolling.
Al Muaini emphasised that through a variety of annual programs and events, the association is concentrated on increasing awareness among the public and social media users to counter these issues.
She mentioned that the association is now planning a number of training programs for aspiring journalists and social media users to give them the tools they need to confront false information and counteract its spread on social media, preserving social harmony and national security.
