The fourth ministerial and technical meeting of the G20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group was held in Cape Town, South Africa, with participation from the United Arab Emirates through the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).
The UAE’s involvement demonstrates its dedication to assisting global initiatives aimed at lowering the likelihood of disasters and enhancing regional and national preparedness and response capabilities. Participating in a number of high-level ministerial and technical sessions, the group discussed issues like capacity-building, anticipatory finance, early warning systems, and improved collaboration between states and international organisations.
Al Neyadi gave a presentation at the High-Level Ministerial Dialogue on Early Warning that focused on the UAE’s experience creating the National Early Warning System, which combines predictive analytics and artificial intelligence to guarantee prompt and accurate emergency response.
Additionally, the delegation presented national efforts to protect vulnerable individuals and strengthen community resilience through integrated, proactive strategies that consider social, economic, and environmental factors. Through its publication “The Road to Success – The UAE Model in Managing the COVID-19 Crisis,” which showcases institutional integration, proactive planning, and adaptable leadership in handling global crises, NCEMA shared the UAE’s experience managing the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the engagement.
