The United Arab Emirates’ General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) underlined the significance of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) Supreme Council’s decision to create the GCC Civil Aviation Authority and designate the UAE as its headquarters.
The authority stated that this action represents a clear strategic direction to improve Gulf integration in the air transportation ecosystem and move it closer to greater coordination and harmonization, opening up previously unheard-of growth prospects for this crucial industry not only throughout the Gulf but also on a regional and global scale.
“Hosting the headquarters of the GCC Civil Aviation Authority reinforces the UAE’s leadership in international aviation and strengthens its strategic position, while highlighting its pivotal role in developing the sector across the region,” he continued. This choice also demonstrates the GCC States’ dedication to strengthening integration in key areas, including civil aviation, bolstering the region’s standing as a global center for logistics and air travel, and increasing its competitiveness on a regional and international scale.
He emphasized that the UAE’s choice as the headquarters shows faith in the nation’s institutional capacity and regulatory know-how in the development of civil aviation, as well as its continued dedication to assisting cooperative GCC projects.
