As part of the ambitious Abu Dhabi Air Taxi project, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has approved the design of the nation’s first hybrid heliport, which will be located at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal in Zayed Port.

The hybrid heliport, developed in close collaboration with AD Ports Group, Falcon Aviation Services, and Archer Aviation, represents a revolutionary step towards sustainable, integrated air transportation across the emirate.

With its ability to handle both conventional helicopters and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft like Archer’s Midnight, this hybrid heliport is the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates and provides a flexible, future-ready solution for urban mobility.

With early commercial air taxi operations scheduled with Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA), it is part of Archer’s larger infrastructure network in the United Arab Emirates. The Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal in Zayed Port, a major centre for the regional cruise industry that welcomes over 650,000 tourists annually, is where the first site was selected.

It also serves as a gateway to the city’s most well-known recreational and cultural attractions, offering quick access to the Saadiyat Cultural District and the Louvre Abu Dhabi. To facilitate the safe, interoperable, and effective operation of both helicopters and eVTOLs from a single platform, the GCAA has become the world’s first civil aviation body to develop regulatory standards for hybrid infrastructure.
