Washington: Regarding Washington’s resolve to the war on Iran, Donald Trump has made conflicting statements. He has rejected a ceasefire and increased offensive activities while thinking about “winding down” the conflict. In addition to continuing attacks on Iranian locations, Trump has sent 5,000 US ground troops to the area to supplement the 50,000 currently there. In response, Iran launched missiles toward the joint US-UK military installation on the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, which is 4,000 kilometers away from the combat zone. Iran will “exercise its right to self-defense,” according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who also warned that British lives are in danger because Iranian targets have been attacked from its bases.

In addition to difficult decisions, Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu are facing significant obstacles in the course of their fight against Iran. The aims of Trump and his partner are different. According to a US official who spoke to the Washington Post, Trump wants to eliminate Iran’s ballistic missile program, sink its fleet, neutralize its regional allies, and ensure that it cannot get a nuclear weapon.

Netanyahu is deploying air power to bring about regime change. He has assaulted security organizations that defend the regime and killed Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, Ali Larijani, the director of the National Security Council, and Gholamreza Soleimani, the commander of the Basij paramilitary force. The regime is still in existence and operational. Iran retaliated with missiles that hit close to Israel’s nuclear plant at Dimona following an Israeli strike on Nantaz, which is home to a destroyed nuclear facility.
