During a hearing before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the United Arab Emirates vehemently denied the baseless accusations made by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The SAF did not meet any evidentiary standards and failed to provide any reliable proof, exposing a weak and illegitimate case without any legal foundation. During the hearing, the UAE vehemently refuted the accusations, proving that the assertions made before the ICJ are unfounded.

We [the UAE] should not be here today,” the delegation from the United Arab Emirates said at the hearing. The Court’s jurisdiction in this instance is obviously unfounded. A valid use of state sovereignty is the United Arab Emirates’ reservation to Article IX of the Genocide Convention.

The UAE further reiterated that it has been working nonstop to attempt to lessen the suffering of the Sudanese people since the start of this crisis. The United Nations is among the partners the UAE has partnered with to provide more than USD 600 million in aid. To help individuals escaping the war, it has set up field clinics in the bordering states of South Sudan and Chad. These hospitals are staffed by doctors and nurses who treat anybody in need, regardless of their political affiliation, gender, race, or religion.
