The Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat) recently released data showing that visitor spending in GCC countries is expected to reach US$223.7 billion in 2034, while incoming visitor spending is expected to contribute 13.4% of total exports. The Centre also reported that the GCC nations are making consistent strides in a number of metrics pertaining to tourism.

The information shows that the overall amount spent by foreign tourists in GCC nations in 2023 was US$135.5 billion, a 28.9 percent rise over 2019 statistics.

According to the 2024 Safety and Security Index, the GCC nations came in first place in the Middle East and North Africa. Based on the index’s range of 1 to 7, all GCC nations scored higher than the regional average of 5.86 points. In terms of passport power, they were also one of the top six Arab nations.
